A shooting spree by a South Korean reservist left two people dead and three others injured. The reserve soldier killed one and wounded three others before killing himself in a shooting rampage at a military training camp in Seoul on Wednesday morning, the Defense Ministry said. The wounded were transported to a military hospital in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and other civilian hospitals near the site. But one died during medical treatment and another was reportedly in a critical condition. The remaining two are said to be stable, according to reports. But initial reports showed that the gunman was one of soldiers "requiring special attention." He was rated as class-B with A being the worst. During his service, Choi was sent from one unit to another as he failed to adapt to military life. He also had a medical record of depression, reports added.The military said all victims are reservists. Some 545 reservists were participating in the shooting practice as part of a three-day training session that started on Tuesday. The reservists are still standing by at the training camp even now. The cause of the incident still remains unclear.

13일 오전 10시40분께 서울 서초구 내곡동 육군 수도방위사령부 예하 52사단 예비군 훈련장에서 총기 사고가 발생했다. 예비군 훈련장에서 총기 난사 사건이 일어난 것은 이번이 처음이다. 가해자 최씨는 현역 시절 보호·관심병사였던 것으로 확인됐다. 최씨는 전방 모 사단에서 군 복무를 마치고 2013년 8월 전역한 것으로 알려졌다. 이 사고로 가해자 최씨를 포함한 최소 2명이 숨지고, 3명이 크게 다쳤다.

부상자들은 국군 수도병원으로 이송됐다. 부상자 가운데 2명이 위독한 상태로 전해지면서 사망자가 더 늘어날 것으로 보인다. 이날 총기 난사 사건이 발생한 예비군 훈련은 전날 시작했으며, 오는 14일까지 실시될 예정이었다. 이 훈련에는 최소 545명이 참가했으며, 현재 예비군들은 훈련장에서 대기 중인 것으로 알려졌다.

육군 관계자는 "상대방에 대해 어떤 의도를 갖고 난사한 것인지, 자신이 죽으려고 한 것인지 확인되지 않았다"고 말했다.
