Spring has brought all kinds of living things back to its own colors. Especially in April, Azalea is popping out its leaves. Azalea is also called as "The compatriot flower" Although the North and the South has been divided into two, Azalea does not take sides. It blooms everywhere, from Baekdu Mountain to Hanla Mountain. That is how "Azalea Festival" can be opened at the same time throughout the country. Some areas are hosting a festival entitled "Genuine Flower." Our ancestors called the royal azalea, "dog flower" and that is because it is not edible. Azalea is called the "genuine flower" because it is edible and fried azalea is called "fried flower" The azalea festival begins at Youngchi Mountain in Yeosu. This year, the festival was opened from the third to the fifth of this month. Yeosu Youngchi Mountain Azalea Festival has twenty three years of history. A festival opened on the fifth in Milyang, Jongnam Mountain. Azalea Festival is held earlier depending on the blossoming period. Wonmi Mountain Azalea festival was held on the eleventh and the twelfth in Kyunggido Buchon. And there will be Korea Mountain azalea festival from the eighteenth to the thirtieth in Incheon, Gangwha. [글로벌 코리아]'4월의 꽃' 진달래 만발

봄이 되자 온갖 생물이 약동하고 있다. 특히 4월 들어 진달래가 꽃잎을 터뜨리고 있다. 진달래는 '겨레의 꽃'으로 불린다. 비록 남과 북으로 겨레는 양단됐지만 진달래는 남북을 가리지 않는다. 한라에서 백두까지 삼천리 방방곡곡에서 피어난다. 진달래 축제가 곳곳에서 동시에 열리는 이유다.

일부 지역에서는 '참꽃'이라는 이름으로 축제를 연다. 우리 조상들은 철쭉꽃을 '개꽃'이라 불렀다. 먹을 수 없어서다. 진달래는 먹을 수 있어 '참꽃'으로 불린다. 진달래로 부쳐 먹는 전은 '화전'으로 불린다.

진달래 축제는 여수 영취산에서 시작된다. 올해는 지난 3일부터 5일까지 열렸다. 여수 영취산진달래축제는 23년의 역사를 자랑한다. 5일에는 밀양 종남산에서 축제가 개최됐다. 12일에는 창원 천주산에서 분홍의 축제세계가 펼쳐졌다.

진달래 축제는 개화시기를 따라 빠르게 북상한다. 경기도 부천에서 11일과 12일 원미산 진달래 축제가 열렸다. 이어 인천 강화에서 18일부터 30일까지 고려산 진달래 축제가 열린다. 진달래 축제를 즐길 마지막 기회다.
