Samsung and LG, the number 1 and 2 smartphone manufacturers of the industry, are becoming anxious about the low priced smartphone 'Luna' which is produced by the collaboration of SK Telecom, TG &Co. and Foxconn.

According to the smartphone industry, TG & Co took charge of development and design and Foxconn, the Taiwanese company, took charge of the production. The product is only sold by SKT.

Luna is becoming very popular due to its refined design, premium specifications and affordable price.

Luna is the first unibody metal smartphone among android phones that are released in local market.

The device features a 5.5-inch Full HD display which has a resemblance to Apple's iPhone 6 plus.

This is the reason why smartphone users say that the device features OS that Korean are familiar with and similar design to iPhone.

This phone with high specs retailed for only 449,900 Won. Besides, the actual price of the device was even reduced to 93,000 Won after SKT started supporting the consumers with 310,000 Won of grant money. Moreover, its commercial that one of the most popular member of girl's band Sulhyun is in contributes to increasing the sales. '루나'의 반란, 통신사가 만든 스마트폰 인기..휴대폰 제조사 긴장하라

SK텔레콤과 TG앤컴퍼니, 폭스콘이 합작해 만든 중저가폰 '루나'의 돌풍으로 국내 1, 2위 휴대폰 제조업체 삼성·LG전자가 긴장하고 있다.

12일 업계에 따르면 TG앤컴퍼니가 개발과 디자인을 맡고 대만 제조사 폭스콘이 만들어 SK텔레콤을 통해서 단독 판매되고 있는 루나는 세련된 메탈 디자인에 프리미엄급 성능을 갖추고도 가격 거품은 쏙 뺀 스마트폰으로 호평받고 있다.

루나는 국내 출시 안드로이드폰 중 처음으로 메탈 유니바디를 적용했다. 아이폰6플러스와 같은 크기인 5.5인치에 풀HD(초고화질) 디스플레이를 갖췄다. 국내 이용자들에게 익숙한 구글 안드로이드 운영체제(OS)에 아이폰 디자인을 입었다는 평가가 나오는 이유다.

고성능을 갖추고도 출고가는 중저가 스마트폰 수준인 44만9900원이다. 게다가 SK텔레콤이 출시 첫날부터 31만원의 보조금을 지원하면서 실구매가는 9만3000원대까지 떨어졌다. 더불어 인기 아이돌 가수 설현이 모델로 나선 TV 광고 역시 화제를 모으며 판매 열풍에 힘을 보탰다. 현재 루나의 일평균 판매량은 2000여대로, 한달로 환산해보면 6만대 가량이 지속 판매되고 있다./스피킹전문 EDB 영어회화학원 대표강사 닥터 벤
