Grexit or Brexit were not the biggest threat to 'One Europe', it is a Syrian refugee crisis.

According to Christian Science monitor, a death penalty might be declared to the Schengen agreement if EU does not bring about a fundamental agreement on the refugee crisis by next year.

Schengen agreement is the very essence of European unity because it played an important role to get rid of boarders between European countries.

The main cause of the Syrian refugee crisis is instability of the Middle East due to the rise of SI.

The civil war between the Syrian and the war with IS are not such problems that can be resolved easily.

It is quite clear that the situation will get worse. The refugee crisis is not just the beginning. However, Europe is completely paralyzed by the situation already.

According to telegraph, Hungary which is one of members of Schengen agreement sealed borders and declared a state of emergency in the nation.

Next Hungary announced plans to seal its border with Romania and many other countries as well so that the refugees will not be able to find a way to enter into the country.

난민 앞에 흔들리는 '하나의 유럽'

'하나의 유럽'에 가장 큰 위협으로 떠오른 것은 그렉시트(그리스의 유로존 탈퇴)도 브렉시트(영국의 유럽연합 탈퇴)도 아닌 이슬람 난민사태였다.

15일(현지시간) 크리스천사이언스모니터의 파리발 보도에 따르면 유럽연합(EU) 내에서는 내년까지 난민 문제에 대한 근본적인 합의가 도출되지 않는다면 솅겐조약에게는 곧 사망선고가 될 것이라는 우려가 나오고 있다.

솅겐조약은 유럽통합의 본질로 불린다. 사실상 국경선 자체를 없애는 역할을 했기 때문이다. 유럽 난민사태는 이슬람국가(IS)의 발흥 등 중동의 정세 불안이 근본적인 원인이다.

IS와의 전쟁은 물론이고 국민의 절반이 난민으로 떠돈다는 시리아의 내전도 쉽게 해결할 수 있는 문제가 아니다. 되레 사태가 더욱 악화될 것이라는 관측이 우세하다. 난민 사태는 이제 시작인 셈이다.

하지만 그 시작부터 유럽은 삐걱거리고 있다.

영국 텔레그래프에 따르면 솅건조약 가입국인 헝가리는 이날 국경지역에 국가비상사태를 선포하고 세르비아와의 국경을 전면 통제했다. 우회로가 될 루마니아 등 다른 국가와의 국경도 곧 통제할 것으로 알려졌다. /스피킹전문 EDB 영어회화학원 대표강사 닥터 벤
