Strong earthquake struck Kathmandu and killed more than two thousand people. This is the most tragic disaster of all times. One of the police officers of Nepal stated that the confirmed casualty numbers are 1953 and 4689 injured. After the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on the 25th, another 6.7 magnitude occurred in the north eastern part of Kathmandu. Nepal authorities said that it is their second day of the rescue attempt but they are having difficulties due to the breakdown of buildings and the people are trapped inside the wreckage. Minister of information stated that there may be up to 4500 casualties. This earthquake triggered a massive avalanche and swept through the highest point in the world, Himalayas. It is reported that there are seventeen casualties and sixty one injured up to this point. There are three injured Koreans reported on the 26th afternoon. There are 650 Koreans living in Nepal but because of numerous tourists, the injured numbers may increase. One serious injured and two injured are tourists. The Korean embassy of Nepal is seeking for further victims.

네팔의 대지진이 수도 카트만두를 강타했다. 사망자는 2000명을 넘어섰다. 역대 최악의 참사다.

네팔 경찰의 카말 싱 반 대변인은 26일(현지시간) 네팔에서 확인된 사망자 수가 1953명, 부상자 수가 4629명으로 집계됐다고 발표했다.

지난 25일 규모 7.8의 지진이 발생한데 이어 이날 규모 6.7의 여진이 카트만두 동북쪽에서 발생했다. 네팔 당국은 이틀째 구조 작업을 벌이고 있지만 구조에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 건물 잔해 속에 사상자가 다수 갇혀있기 때문이다. 네팔 정보장관은 강진에 따른 사망자가 4500명에 달할 수 있다고 전망했다.

세계 최고봉인 에베레스트도 지진의 여파로 대규모 산사태가 발생했다. 현재까지 17명이 숨지고, 61명이 다친 것으로 파악됐다.

한국인 부상자는 26일 오후까지 3명이 확인됐다. 네팔 체류자는 650명가량이지만 네팔 여행자가 많아 더 늘어날 가능성을 배제할 수 없다. 중상자 1명을 포함해 부상자 2명이 여행자다. 네팔 주재 한국대사관은 한국인 피해자가 추가적으로 있는지 확인 중이다.
