[Global Korea]Experience "Koreanization" at Seoul Station



Seoul station is about to be reformed as a place for Koreanization. Former Seoul Station has re-opened in 2012 with the name "Culture Station Seoul 284". Culture Station Seoul 284 will hold an exhibition under the title of "The Boundary of Koreanization and Expansion" from the 1st until the 30st of this month. 29 artists including Seo Jung Tae, Lee Kang So, Ham Sup and many others will participate in this exhibition. This exhibition was planned with an objective to think about the new possibilities of Koreanization going beyond the limits of the genre and materials. This exhibition does not only include pieces of colorings and Indian ink collaborated with Han-ji, but also Chosun Bakja picture of Gu Bon Chang and Wooden art pieces as well. There are also art pieces that show modern paintings made of traditional Dak-paper and self- amusing pieces done by Hanji and ink. There are about 100 art pieces by Kim Ho Deuk, Na Jum Su, Song Su Ryeon, Oh Sook Whan, Oh Tae Hak, Lee Jong Gu, Lim Taek, Jang Sang Eui, Jung Hyun, Jo Whan, Cha Gi Yul, Hong Soon Ju and so on. Culture Station Seoul 284 embraces the stories of many Koreans and this will verify our artistic identify by examining the potential and value of modern art and the meaning of characteristics Koreanization has.

[글로벌 코리아]서울역에서 한국화 만나요

서울역이 한국화를 위한 공간으로 거듭날 예정이다.

옛 서울역은 2012년 '문화역서울 284'라는 이름의 복합문화공간으로 새롭게 문을 열었다.

문화역서울 284는 1일부터 '한국화의 경계, 한국화의 확장'이라는 제목의 기획전을 30일까지 이어간다. 기획전에는 서정태, 이강소, 함섭 등 미술작가 29명이 참여한다.

이번 전시회는 장르와 재료의 경계를 넘어 한국화의 새로운 가능성을 생각해 보자는 취지에서 기획됐다. 이를 위해 한국화를 비롯한 다양한 시각예술 작품을 선보일 예정이다.

전시작에는 한지를 이용한 수묵, 채색 작품뿐 아니라 구본창의 조선백자 사진, 나무를 이용한 설치 작품 등이 포함돼 있다.

전통 닥종이를 매개로 한 현대적 느낌의 회화, 한지와 먹을 이용해 스스로 유희적 성격의 작품을 보여주는 작품도 있다.

김호득, 나점수, 박병춘, 송수련, 오숙환, 오태학, 이종구, 임택, 장상의, 정현, 조환, 차기율, 홍순주 등의 작품을 포함해 총 100여점이 전시된다.

문화역서울 284는 "많은 한국인의 사연이 스쳐 지나간 이 공간에서 한국화가 지닌 특질과 의미, 현대미술로서의 가능성과 가치 등에 대해 진단해 봄으로써 우리 미술의 정체성을 확인하고자 한다"고 말했다.
